When should I move on?

For me moving on is not really a nice term as it implies that our loved one does not matter any more. The real question should be When will I be ready for a new adventure? To answer this we need to switch our focus from where are they, to what are they?

This of course depends very much on your beliefs about life and its meaning. If you feel that we are a body and at the death of the body nothing else remains, then you will be ready to start a new adventure when the memories fade and stop hurting.

If on the other hand you believe that they are sat in heaven waiting for you and one day you will be reunited and spend eternity together, then you will probably never be ready for a new adventure.

If you feel that we are a Soul or Spirit with a body, then what are we when the body dies we are of course Soul/Spirit. Now here there is still an hurdle to overcome if you feel that their Soul/Spirit is watching over and guiding you, it may still be difficult for you to open fully for a new adventure. There may well be something watching over you and guiding you but it is unlikely it is your loved one, simply because they are not yet qualified to do that.

If you can get your head around the idea that after we pass we all start a new adventure. Then it is probably going to be easier for you to start a new adventure in this life. The caveat being that your connection is not ended but transformed. Just as you will still love them, they will still love you but at a Soul/Spirit level which does not include jealousy, hormones or guilt. Even if, or when, they reincarnate into a new body at the Soul/Spirit level you will still be connected and indeed may meet again in another life under different circumstances. So when will you be ready for a new adventure? It depends on where you are.

As a postscript, the reason I have been writing Soul/Spirit is because of the general confusion over the distinction between the two. This has been dealt with elsewhere on this site so I did not want to dilute the message of this piece by exploring it here.
