The conjunction of Mars, Uranus and Pluto opposed by Saturn in 1965 and 66 is a very strong complex which takes some working out for astrologers but more importantly for the Souls electing to take the challenge.
The complex involves four rather difficult energies and six challenging aspect sets but it is important if we are to reach the full potential of this complex to understand it in terms of one motivation. However, before we can synthesis we must analyse and so we can examine the complex in terms of its parts first.
The planet Mars represents:
DRIVES
Mars represents drive and masculinity, as well as issues connected with sexuality and power. It indicates the work we choose and the way we tackle it. It is strongly associated with the experience of brothers, the father and men in general. Where Mars is, there is trouble, but also the fighting instinct to get on in life. Mars shows challenges and the ability to meet them bravely.
Aspects to Mars show the way we use our energy and special talents for particular kinds of work and for overcoming obstacles and challenges in life. No matter what we think of the violent connotations associated with Mars it is clear none of us would get very far
without it. Some people associate Mars with aggressive, sexual, animalism but perversely it is Mars which caused us to rise above the animal and gave us the ability to perceive of ourselves as unique self-conscious individuals able to make a difference.
The planet Saturn represents:
SELF-RELIANCE
Saturn is the furthest planet in the solar system visible to the naked eye. As such it represents limits. Saturn in the horoscope shows where the greatest challenges are to be found, and the hardest lessons learned. This planet shows where rigid systems restrict growth. It is connected with the parents, authorities and rules. Saturn brings strength through self-limitation, discipline and planning.
Aspects to Saturn show areas of the personality where you will feel lack of
confidence. In these areas you will be shy, repressed, desperate for recognition, frustrated. Normally you will build up self-reliance and independence in the part of your character Saturn affects after around 30 years.
While Saturn in most texts is know as the 'greater malefic' it is in fact the greater bringer of truth, for the hardships and limitations it brings are only metered on those areas where there is falsehood and slipshod ways. Saturn forces us to accept that which is our duty on both the Earthly plane and the heavenly plane for Saturn highlights the illusions which hold us back so in a very real sense when Saturn is embraced, far from limitations, Saturn sets us free.
The planet Uranus represents:
ORIGINALITY
Uranus was first discovered in 1781 and is often associated with revolutions. It represents the drive to be unique, to shock and to surprise. It brings sudden and unpredictable events. Its influence is to raise personal consciousness. It is electric and lightning-fast in its effect.
The aspects Uranus makes show in what part of your personality you have the greatest need to break free and act in the most unique and individual way. These aspects indicate rather extreme character traits where you may wish to shock others, or inspire them to change.
Uranus is associated with the evolutionary growth of mankind and the development of new faculties or senses and so the sixth sense or Intuition. However, it needs to be born in mind that not all evolve at the same time and the new and the different are not always acceptable. Man has always been more afraid of the light than the dark. The light of truth when it comes before we are ready can blind us and send us scurry away to the shadows of our protective ignorance. Uranus represents then a brave step forward.
The planet Pluto represents:
TRANSFORMATION
Pluto was discovered in 1930 and takes 246 years to go around the Sun. Though very small, its influence is completely disproportionate to its size. It brings total transformations. Drawing deep psychological issues up out of the unconsciousness it has a purging function. Its influence focuses on power and power misuse, or feelings of alienation. Pluto shows in what area of society total transformations take place - often with rather catastrophic consequences. Pluto roots out basic imbalances, replacing corruption with something totally new. It brings a death and rebirth process.
The aspects Pluto makes show the most intense psychological drives in your personality. In these areas of your personality you will be most magnetic and dominating. This stems from an unconscious need for control, which in turn stems from a deep fear of being powerless.
Crises and transformation will arise in these areas. Pluto can make one a recluse because of the very deep issues one has to face in a Pluto period. When these buried emotional complexes are finally brought to the light. Pluto has the power to transform not only
ourselves but those around us. It is the seed of life which is revealed in death.
We can see then that what ever happens this complex is there to make changes, to play a role in the evolution of mankind, to raise the stakes and take the next step. It will of course not be achieved without pain and it is obvious that some of its exponents will fall by the wayside.
I have just concentrated on the related themes but their essence is within what I have just said.
If we turn now to the way these energies combine one with one we may see a similar theme emerge.
With Mars aspecting Saturn.
Drive and discipline.
As with all aspects, Mars – Saturn contacts can manifests in a wide variety of different ways. However, I think that it is safe to say with all contacts that individuals with this combination strong in their charts will consciously or unconsciously gravitate towards situations where their capacity for strength, endurance and stamina will be tested and stretched – sometimes to near breaking point. The energies of Saturn and Mars though in essence as we have seen are compatibly, in the daily grind they stand at opposite poles. Fear and courage, control and assertion, discipline and impulse.
A person with this contact is very likely to find themselves in a cat and mouse game of domination and dominated often switching roles with a disturbing easiness.
Of the good manifestations of Mars – Saturn is the very real ability to work hard and in a methodical manner. Fighting for the rights of authoritarian institutions is another application. It gives great resilience and stamina thereby helping with some sporting endeavours. It can of course bring about the changes which need steady concerted efforts and long term planning, on a universal spiritual plane, evolution.
With Mars aspecting Uranus.
Drive and experimentation.
This aspect could be said to nullify the last aspect because whereas Saturn disciplined the Mars drive, Uranus tends to give it free rein. Not much can stand in the way of a Mars – Uranus type because freedom is their watch word. However, Uranus can also bring great resourcefulness to any type of endeavour. The inspirational nature of Uranus is the key to making this aspect work. While others fear the rocky unknown, people with this aspect rush in where angels fear to tread. While the Mars – Saturn was a fighter for authority the Mars – Uranus can be a fighter for humanitarian or progressive movements. Again I have restricted the deliniation of this aspect to issues around the emerging theme.
With Mars aspecting Pluto.
Drive and cutting through decay.
This combination again has a rather dire reputation, this time of being completely and utterly ruthless. No fight is a fight unless it is to the death no gamble worth taking unless it is win or lose everything. However, as Pluto is also the ruler of hidden things the passions associated with both Mars and Pluto can be hidden and even buried deep within the unconscious of those with this aspect and very often the opposite effect can hold sway when we find people who withhold all feelings of anger and keep bottled up their rage and
very definite pain. The feeling that should they let go a volcano will erupt is well know to those who find it difficult to own this Mars – Pluto combination. The danger though is not in the release but the issuing of this violent force from others. More than
any thing the souls who elected this combination must discover the proper and rightful manifestation of this force. The essence of Mars – Pluto is the total transformation of societies mores and deteriorating taboos. Death to the old and life to the new.
Having looked at Mars and its relationships with the other planets in this complex we still need to examine the remaining interplanetary relationships.
With Saturn aspecting Uranus
Self-reliance with structural renewal.
Here we find that those experiencing this opposition of opposites have a struggle connected with when to release attachment to the past and open their self and their life to the necessity of change. Often they hang on to restrictive life-patterns too long, and when sudden change comes - as it invariably does - the edifice they have built up can
disintegrate as they uncompromisingly embark on a completely new venture. They tread the tightrope between generations and have the capacity to bridge the gap between young and old. Sometimes they identify with the establishment, yet there will come decisive breaks
as they violently strive to adjust to change. They have a role in society in which they should bear the banner of reform. It should be born in mind though that very often with this contact the old can re-surface and become the new. Sometimes reforms can be pushed
through without recourse to agreement and there is a bullying side to this aspect. However, it is a great aspect to have if you need to bring about change which is opposed.
With Saturn aspecting Pluto
Self-reliance and re-evaluate personal power
People with this aspect often have a deep distrust, hatred or fear of power, they will sometimes steer clear of achieving power for themselves while in a correct working of these energies holding power is exactly what they need. At best, Saturn – Pluto is concerned with the responsible and controlled use of power. It is this side of it though
which often brings the huge potential tumbling down because very often those with this contact feel so deeply the responsibility of power that they take on the responsibility of power misused where there is any connection however slight to themselves. Such a state
can play havoc with a persons guilt complexes that seriois psychological harm can ensue this means then that rather than risk the misuse of power either against them or on their behave they should hold the power in a responsible manner.
One last connection needs to be analysed.
With Uranus aspecting Pluto
Originality and total revolution.
This is quite a long term aspect and so often gets ignored however it is such a dynamic aspect that its nature needs to be explored for the dangers and potential which it holds. It could be said that the greater the swing to positive the greater the pull to negative.
Uranus and Pluto are such heavy weights that once swung on the great pendulum, enormous forces are unleashed. The people born within this period must realise their great potential for leading the world into a bright future or a bleak winter.
This completes the analysis of this complex of planets and it would be interesting to know if you have already reached a synthesis on your own for I have been a little bias in the analysis, not to mislead or to favour the interpretation but to leave out the many blind alleys we could have followed.
What then is this saying about this very important complex of planetary energies.
The potential of this complex is much greater than individual fulfilment it is a definite period in the history and development of mankind. Will the people born with this alignment meet the challenge or will they direct the energies into destruction because ultimately the energies of this planetary alignment will be realised. The world will be transformed there will be a new order they only thing left uncertain is will mankind survive the changes. Many of the clients I see with this configuration are shirking their responsibilities and not without cost to themselves but what of the cost to mankind as a whole. An image that springs to mind when I thing of this configuration is that of Moses leading his people out of Egypt. I feel that somewhere there are many Moses' ready to lead the whole of mankind into a brave new future and there are many who are ready to lead us into Armageddon what the outcome will be I am unsure but we may look to the current situation being played out mostly by people born around the time of this alignment and now coming to positions of power and influence. Those with this configuration in their birth chart may well hold the future of mankind in their hands. It is for those who have refused the call to turn again and take up the gauntlet which will swing the pendulum to the positive outcome which will see a planet with us on it and living in peace and wholeness.
